Jaime’s fascination with art started in her early years, growing up spending time outside, playing in her grandmother’s garden, watching a flock of birds flying over treetops or a flutter of colorful butterflies dancing around a flower bed. She was mesmerized by these beautiful surroundings.It inspired her to start drawing what she saw. After moving to the United States in 1987, it became clear to her that art is her calling. She has found her sense of purpose in creating artforms which not only record what she sees or experiences, but enhance her own sense of identity. Her voice and her passion about this world, the people, and its places are at the tips of her fingers. Her style primarily focuses on realism, which evokes a sense of renewal against the sharp contrast of space and time. However, she enjoys the challenge of learning and mastering the many different mediums and styles the art world possesses. The translucence of watercolor, the opaqueness of acrylic, the unpredictability of crafting by hand, all of these and more provide an outlet and an opportunity. For her, there has been no better resource to encounter this than volunteering as an art instructor. An endeavor that has helped her connect with others who share the same passion as herself and which has inspired her to grow and learn.
